Animal handling is offered if you join up with our educators! The animals are in their own enclosure and are not roaming free. Not all of our animals can come out to say hi but many can. Catch the Educators wherever they are on their circular, continuous tours.


Arachnids are not always able to be handled. When they are feeling up to it, they are an adult only animal and you must be 18 years of age or older to hold them.

Duration: 30 - 60 minutes, as long as you are out by bug bed time, you can stay as long as you'd like!

Notes:

  • At this time Gift Cards purchased through our online booking system are not redeemable in the Gift Shop. They can only be used for online admission.
  • Booking is not necessary, walk-ins are always welcome!
  • There are only 10 bookable spots online to help you plan your day but booking online is not required.
  • Children under 13 must be accompanied by someone 16 years of age or older, no exceptions

  • Accessibility notes
  • Audio tour with transcripts are now available with admission. In order to use, you must have a smart device that can access the internet using our WIFI. We recommend bringing headphones if you are utilizing this new feature.
  • The giftshop and zoo are wheelchair accessible, however the washrooms that we share with the building are not.
  • The lighting in the zoo is quite time, however there are some brighter LED and florescent light sources.
  • The first hour of the day is a mandatory masking hour for everyone 5 and up. If wearing a mask is uncomfortable for you, please come after the first hour.


Please note, all Daycare walk-ins must be at a ratio of 1:6. (one adult per 6 children 4 and under). If you Daycare group is larger than 10 people, please visit the GROUPS tab above.



Annual Passes

  • Annual passes are for those 5+ as everyone 4 and under is free!


  • No matter the age, all annual passes are $36+GST


  • Annual passes are available ALL year round! It is good for 365 days from when you bought it.


  • It is best to purchase these in person, over the phone, or via email. On your first, or if you purchase it in person, you will receive a physical card with your name and pass expiry date on it.



  • Annual passes are only valid for one person each. You might be asked for an ID to verify that your name matches the one on the card.


An Educator is always in the zoo waiting to teach you all about the incredible animals we have.


The displays are ever changing, so come in and be amazed by the extensive collection of invertebrates from around the world any time of the year.


This stop is sure to thrill everyone; from children, adults and bug lovers to even the more skeptical visitors!



  • Indigenous Persons Discount

    All Indigenous folks will recieve a 15% discount on general admission.  Discounts can only be applied during instore purchase of general admission. If you booked ahead, let us know! We can refund the discount back on to the card you paid with.


    All Indigenous groups will recieve a 10% discount on all Outreaches and Private Tours. Please contact karlee@victoriabugzoo.ca for more information.

  • Access 2 and Leisure Assistance Pass

    By showing us your card,  your caregiver, assitant, parent, or helper may visit for free! You will pay your admission price. If the card holder is 4 and under, one parents will be free and so will the cardholder.

  • Industry Discount

    Do you work in toursim in BC? Let us know! You will recieve free admission for you and one guest. This is only valid for walk-in admissions. You may be asked for a paystub or work ID.

  • Seasonal Discounts

    During the summer months, sometimes we offer a veriety of discounts to folks including but not limited to Military families, and Grade School Teachers. These discounts are not available in the off season due to the decrease in toursism in Victoria and thus the decrease in income the Victoria Bug Zoo recieves. 


    Summer 2023 Discounts include 15% off Admission for Grade School Teachers. This only applies to walk-in guests. We do not offer this for pre-booked tickets. You may be asked for a Work ID or paystub.


    Other various discounts are avaiable through Passport to Science, Laurel Inn Guests, and various other coupons given out throughout the year.
