Taxidermy and Insect Pinning Workshops

Now offered at the Victoria Bug Zoo!

A collaboration with Pretty Dead Taxidermy.

Taxidermy Workshops

Learn how to taxidermy a rat. We have all the tools you need to taxidermy a beautiful rat. At the end of the work shop, you will go home with a beautifully posed rat and lots of new knowledge and memories!


During this course, you will be using a scalpel and scissors. This course is not for the faint of heart as it involves skinning and other taxidermy techniques. All supplies are included but please feel free to bring in props, tiny clothes, and hats for your new friend!


These courses can be privately booked too! Send Karlee an email and you can have your very own rat party. (minimum 4 people).

Insect Pinning Workshops


Do you love the idea of preserving an insect so you can stare at it forever?


A pinning workshop may be for you! Insect pinning is the scientific art form of preserving insects to make them look alive again. We focus more on the artistic side of pinning (there is a very sciency way to pin but that isn't always pretty).


Learn the basics and not so basics of pinning dead insects by taking one of our workshops!

Remember, all participants 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult! Must be 10 or older to attend.

The animals pictured are not the animals you will be working with, however you will receive some very similar.

Please note that to receive a full refund, you must cancel no later than 7 days before the event. To receive 50% refund, you must cancel 48hr before the event.  After that, no refunds can be issued.
