Outreach and Groups Over 10 People
Please note that we book about one to two months in advance for all private bookings during the summer. This includes Virtual Tours.
You come to us!
We are no longer offering private tours at the zoo. If you would like to come visit the bugs with a larger group, please split yourselves in smaller groups of 10 or less people. Within each group, there must be at least one adult. Please stagger your groups by 15-20 minutes. This can be paid for in person.
Want to visit with your Daycare group? You must keep a ratio of 1 to 6 while coming to the zoo. One adult per six children 4 and under.
To book one of these visits, please pay ahead of time with the link below!
If your group is 10 or less people, you do not need to book ahead.
Your group MUST be from an institution or Scout Group.
Large Groups at the Zoo
By coming to the Bug Zoo as a general admission group, you must abide by these rules:
- Split into groups of 10 or less and stagger your entrance by a minimum of 20 minutes.
- Groups smaller than yours may be let in before you
- When purchasing tickets, you must pay for everyone at once online.
- Only one larger group is allowed at a time.
- If you did not pre-book online, you will not be allowed to enter. (as of May 1st)
Cost: General Admission prices plus a 10% discount
Duration: It takes about 30-45 minutes to go through the zoo
Capacity: 10 people (including at least one adult) per 20 minutes

Virtual Tour
One hour of fun and education with one of our knowledgeable Educators over Google Meet. If you would like to use another platform, we ask that you are the host and send us the link.
Cost: $95 +tax
Duration: 1 hour
Capacity: 20 logins or if you host, as many as you want!
Requirements: Internet access and a computer, phone or tablet
School and Daycare Outreach
Is your school or daycare in the Greater Victoria Region? We can come to you! (With lots of bugs)
We typically bring a millipede, cockroach, arachnid, and several stick insects.
You can have up to two sessions at a single location on the same day. If you have younger friends who might not sit for a whole hour, we can break up the group and do two 30 minute sessions.
Cost: $185 +tax and $0.56/km
Duration: 1 hour
Extra Session on same day:$100 + tax (max 3 per day)
Capacity: Unlimited
Requirements: Presentation must be indoors with all windows and doors shut for the animals to come out and visit. The larger your group is, the less animal handling can take place. Must be in the Greater Victoria Region
Please note that we are taking on far less Outreach than we have in previous years. We will only be able to accommodate one booking per week until further notice.
Business Outreach
Is your business within a 45 minute drive of our Zoo? We can come to you! (With lots of bugs) Must be a registered business. We do not visit people's homes at this time.
This option is just like our private tour in the Party Room but we can travel to you, instead.
You can have up to three sessions at a single location on the same day. If you have younger friends who might not sit for a whole hour, we can break up the group and do two 30 minute sessions.
Cost: $215 +tax and $0.56/km
$50.00 deposit is required two weeks prior to the event
Duration: 1 hour

Could your classroom benefit from a week with an insect kit?
We have all sorts of kits available to suit different learning outcomes and to challenge students to think more about the smaller inhabitants of this world! Kits are available for week-long rentals with pick-up and drop-off at the Victoria Bug Zoo.
Each kit comes with detailed information about each specimen in the kit as well as copies of interactive activities related to the theme of the kit that are meant to encourage a deeper understanding. The specimens are durably made of acrylic resin and they can be picked up and examined from all sides. If you have specific outcomes in mind we can help direct you to the most useful resources, as well as answer any questions you may have.

Please note that a cancelation fee will be charged if you cancel your group booking within 48 hours of the event. For business groups, your deposit is not refundable but if you have paid in full, the other portion of your invoice can be refunded if it is before 48 hours until the event.
